World history Essay
Dear editor,
I have been thinking about slavery and how it was brought and used in the past, and the
future. In the past, slave owners were very aggressive, and cruel to their slaves. They used
whips and tormented them. And they still do that today. Today they have far more technology
and slaves are everywhere now, but they have less slaves. They both still have slavery in
existence but they have differences. Different countries have different laws and more slavery.
In our country today, we do not have a lot of slavery. Slavery is actually against the law.
Although it matters what you call slavery; Like jail or the law.
In the past, there was a triangular trade route called the triangle trade. This trade was
very efficient for slave owners and brought more land but it caused more problems for the world.
This route was called the triangle trade because it was a in a triangular form and it traded
slaves. One cause of this trade was to expand land. The Europeans wanted more land. This
helped by getting more crops in more places and it created America. Another reason for slavery
was that they wanted more slaves. When they reached America, they didn’t want Native
Americans as slaves because of three reasons. One was that they were full of diseases. These
diseases made them weak, which was another reason why Europeans didn’t want them. The
last reason why the Europeans didn’t want the Native Americans was that they knew the land
well. Without the slave trade, new countries and slaves would be spread across the world. But
compared to today, slavery and trading is much worse.
Today, there is still human trafficking. I looked up one example of human trafficking and
found a big, serious in Philadelphia. Five brothers are under arrest for human trafficking. These
brothers are Ukraine and were all charged for smuggling men and women from Mexico, and
making them do work, and the brothers raped some of the workers. Their age ranged from thirty
to fifty years old.
Many other countries have more slaves then us. We have about twenty-seven million in
our country today. I would say Europe has more slaves then us. They have about twenty
percent of their population full of slaves. These slaves are treated differently and crueler. The
United States has more laws and might be more strict, but other countries like Europe, that have
lees laws, might have more slaves. Europe had many countries that forbidden it from human
slavery but criminals manage to smuggled more slaves. In the past, slavery was allowed almost
everywhere. This meant that slavery wasn’t a big deal when it came to the law. But human
trafficking is much easier to pull off today because of the technology. For example, cars trains,
flashlights and phones help make human trafficking much easier.

Journal: Slaves in the triangle trade Dear journal, 1638, jan.19 All these jobs and work is tearing me up! This life that I’m living in isn’t anything that I have imagined. I rather die than be alive with these Portuguese killers. My life used to be just fine. I lived in Egypt, and I enjoyed my life. I was 10 at the time. I had lived with my brother. My brother was coolest brother any little sibling could ask for. He was 13 at the time, and even though he was older than me, he always loved hanging out with me. Now, my grandmother was always there with me. She would tell me about my ancestors and many wise things. When I needed help with a tasks he wouldn’t physical help, she would tell, and explain to me what I need to do in order to succeed. She was one of the biggest influences for me. Everything was fine, in till it happened. It was a wonderful, and the day was fine. At night we had a party, because we didn’t have anything to do that day. This day was fun. Work was low, and when night hit, we celebrated. I was having a great time, In till, I saw my brother wondering off. I was very curious, so I followed him. I didn’t want him to see me, so very quietly, I followed him. We had stopped at a hill. He had lain down on the ground. He looked like his was spying on someone. He was looked surprised, but confused. So, I came out of the bushes to talk to him. I asked him what happened. He grapped me, and told me to shut my mouth. He put his hand over my mouth, and we were hiding in a shaded tree. I was so confused. While, I was thinking, a black shadow had passed us. I thought it was one of our people, but they weren’t. I looked closer, and I saw a man. This man had a beard, boots, and many weapons, I have never seen before. I was confused, because I have never seen these kinds of people. My brother told me that these men wanted to harm our people. He had been spying on them for awhile. He told me not to go back to the village. He told me to escape into the woods. He did not go with me. That was the last time I saw my brother, my mother, or anyone I knew. I ran and ran, and I was scared out my mind. I was tired, it was dark and I think I had heard someone behind me. I had stopped to rest. I had dropped something, so I picked it up. When I got up, something hit me in the face. It felt like a fist. I didn’t know what it was, but I got knocked out. When I woke up, I was on a ship. There were so many people from not only my tribe but many others that I have seen before. I got up, and started looking for my mom. All of A sudden, I was hit again. (But I didn’t get knocked out) An old man had yelled at me. He called me, “A damn nigger”, and said, “I was worthless”. I was so confused, and knew that I was going to be in this ship for a while. For months, I been on this ship just suffering. It smelled, people were dying, getting thrown overboard. The conditions were hell. Then we hit land. When we hit land, they called it the south. I moved in with a new family, and I hated it. I cried and cried all night because I missed my family. Now I’m 16, and I am used to it. Now I work every day. I was part of the triangle trade. I wish, I got to see my family.

The three gorges dam is a very big and powerful dam and can generate so much power. Although this dam saves energy, and works great, there are things about it that have people all over the world talking about it. It has caused so many droughts, and many farms, people and people are dying. The dam has taken away so much water. It has also messed up the water’s flow, and killed many fish. After this article, you will, know how the generators that provide power for the dam is effecting China and why people all over the world are talking about it.
There are many pros why this dam is a great idea and how it affects people positively. The dam has 32 generators, and uses water to generate power. It also helps the flow of rivers, and stop floods from happening. This will save lives, and let ships pass through the Yangtze River easier. These improvements in China have helped China work and sail more efficiently. That means exporting, and importing will be easier. The dam also gives electric to China. This is efficetion because it gives power to China and yet saves power. The output of it is 9,800MW. I forgot to metion that this dam has 34 generators. The other two do a different perfomence. This dam is 185m high and 2,039 wide. This dam is one of the most enormence dams every made. A lot of people think this dam is a great project. It saves so many things. First, it helps ships swim throught the river easier. The dam moves the current, and lets the flow of water is easier for any ship. Also, it powers China with electricity, and saves a lot of power. This means you can conserve energy and use it for more purposes. This dam took 17 years to make. It was a revoltionry dam. This has effected people not only in china but, all over thee world. This project has people in Chin, Asia, and europe talking about it. Not everyone is happy about it.
Many people are really mad about it thought because it has caused thousands of people in a drought. The problems that this dam has caused is horrible. Many people have died because the damn ruined many farms, crops, food, and people. So many people in China are losing water and is involved in global poltics. This project costed billions and billions of dollars. This damn also ruins the fish. It is killing fish in the yangze river. This effects so many farmers, and fishermen. Prodution in water, and fish will drop. This will not only effect China, but buyers of china. Also, countries close to China claim that china took their water. China now has to worry about different countries and themselves. This will bring china down and will damage evrything. The dam will also move millions of people out of their homes. Because of the location, many people are losing their homes, and property. Their economy is going down. The down will also take away animals homes. The dam effects aquadic creatures, and animls near the dam. So mny things are being saccrificed, just for this dam to operate. The dam will not only destroy homes, it will increase the chance of an earthquake. This increase of an earthquake will put china at risk. If an earthquake does accure, this will detroy millions ,and millions of homes, towns, cities, and can kill animals, and the people of China. This is why this is such a big deal and why people are talking about it all over the world. This dam can cause milions of problems, and can cause problems for other countries. So many people are talking about it, are trying to help. But its to hard. Already China is having problems. This tragedy has caused so many people to die and it makes it hard to get water. Scientist all over the world are trying to predict what the dam will do to China. I don’t want ot be in China right now.(personality) Like us, they are dealing with economy problems. This da is struggling to power China nad ruins a lot of important things. I think if China didn’t spend 17 years of work,billions and billions of dollars, China would be alright.
The three gorges dam is a big problem, but it has effected so many people in a good ,and bad way. In my opinon, I think It was a bad idea. First, it created so many problems, and detrution. The people of China have lost thousands of children, and adults. Scienctist are still trying to solve the dam’s problem. This is getting worst, and worst by the second. Other countries are doing the best they can to help solve the cause. The dam will detroy many crops And people’s lives.

Cars have gone along way, and have made everyday life much easier. Whenever you need to get somewhere depends on how fast you are. If the place you want to get to is around the block, then it’s fine if you walk. But if the place you need to get to is very far, like miles, or cities away, then you would probably use a car. Cars take you many places and the amount of energy, power, electric, and structure it needs is tremendous. This piece of technology is wonderful. It takes people places that would take days to get there by feet, compared to using a car that would only take hours, or less. This is great, and affects so many people just like me. Mather of fact, it is almost impossible to live in a world without any cars. Jobs and industries depend on cars to operate the way they do. The car also comes with many other features. First, it has windows that can open and close. When you drive in a car, it really gets hot, so, instead of using the cooling system, you can just let fresh air in. Also, most cars have accessories like seat warmers, cooling systems, moveable chairs, GPS navigation systems, mirrors, more. It even has TVs in them. The new cars today are built with new engines and new technology. These cars have turbo powered engines that make any car reach up to 100’s of miles. Every car you see has good engines, and paint, unless you buy an old car or a used car. Cars also have advanced into new ones, and have creatures, cars that are bigger, and can carry more people, or weight. For example, a regular car has 3 seats in the back, and 2 in the front. But now we have bigger cars like buses, vans, and trucks. A truck is used more for carrying heavy loads of goods. A van is for carrying big families, and holding more people. Buses are for carrying many people. Like at school, we have buses that carry up to 40 people. Maybe even more. Buses, and trucks and cars are very similar. The engine, weight, and many other things make be different, but they are all based on the same thing. Cars have gone a long way. One of the first cars used were so bad compared to the ones made today. These cars used today were far more advanced and will keep developing into better ones. The car will keep going, and new cars are being made as we speak. New covers, new windows, new seats, new design; basically new everything. They are making them faster, better, and more comfortable. And there are many different brands of cars. For example Honda, Toyoda, and KIA Sorento. These brands and different car facilities have made so many cars, and have advanced them into better more advanced vehicle. As I talk about cars, and their history, you will see how the car industry has grown tremendously. The engines, and designs and everything of the car has grown much better, and easier to use. The only thing that will not change is the term car, and how it still got you places whether it took minutes, to hours to get there. Cars are so fast, and very helpful in life today. Matter of fact, without them, traveling, and moving, and carrying things, like people and goods would be extremely hard. I am, personality, trying to start saving money for a nice car that travels good speeds, and carries a lot of gas. But cars like these are just cars made today. Cars that were first developing were just being built and didn’t have these accessories, like the GPS.
If you were to look at a car made in the early 1900’s, or even earlier, and compare it to a car made today, you would be very surprised. Now, when you think of a car, you automatically think of an electric powered car. But that doesn’t mean a car is just run by an electric car. The first electric car was made in 1769. This car was powered by steam, was created by a man named Nicolas Cugnot. This vehicle had three wheels, a coach assembly, and had a boiler on the front of it. They say it was a bad idea because it had more problems than it did good. This piece of machinery could hold about 1-2 people. And the great thing about this was the fact that it was invented way before the French revolution. This car went about 2 miles, an hour. Now, there were many cars invented in the B.C area. These cars were just carts with wheels. And before the steam powered engine started, people made chariots, and basically, mini rooms, with four wheels, with a horse pulling the cart, or mini room.
Next, generals, and the army start building new steam cars, and new designs that were better than the original one. Richard Trevithick started designing a steam propelled car that worked well, not only on land, but in water because it had propellers. This was the beginning of the 1800’s.
In the 1820, more of these steam powered engines were being created, and made in Brittan. These vehicles were being put out in the public, and worked well, but were soon banned. These were banned because they killed many people, and had so many problems. After decades, of improvement, the car was back on the road.
In 1838, a man named Robert Davidson created the first electric powered car. This car had a huge battery, and had to be recharged frequently. This car was much better than the steam car, because it went 2 miles faster, and was more reliable. The constant need to recharge this battery was happening a lot but soon, another man, created a car that can carry a battery, and hold more electric.
Next, in 1860, the first internal combustion engine was made. This engine was powered by oxygen and hydrogen. The cars that had this engine were more powerful, and worked way better, than the steam or electric powered engine. It was powered mainly by gas coal, and a two stroke engine. Although, this engine was more powerful, and created better cars, it still had problems with it. The stoke didn’t compress the gas, so it wasn’t all that, and really wasn’t efficient.
In 1889, Gottieb Wilhelm was the first person to make an automotive from starch. They had created an engine that they had made, and was powered by gasoline, and oxygen. This car also included many things like, a horizontal cylinder of 264cc, air cooling using a fly wheel, hot tube system, cam valves, and had made this car in another version. Cars have gone along way.
In the 1800’s, cars were working their way up. New inventors from different countries like France, Germany, and the U.K were slowly, but gradually making the car more efficient. Wheels started getting put on carts, and when people thought of electricity, they found ways of combining it with the car. The car was needed, and kept being more advanced because people needed better transportation. The need for transportation was needed a lot. If you owned a business, and you wanted to deliver a message quickly, you would need a car. Sure hours are fast, but people want to get more advanced, and do things quicker like a computer. Everything in life is always looking for improvement. Scientist, doctors, inventors, and engineers are working on creating new things. The car is used so much, that every second a car is on, and being used (as I speak). Cars are even used in sports, commercials, toys, and other important things that help create ideas for other businesses. If you took cars from society right now, things would crash. Businesses use cars. Some businesses buy, use, or sell cars. I am did my timeline on cars because cars are so important. I did this project, and many projects in different types of places. And the only way I would have got to those places in a matter of minutes is by using a car. Let me ask you something, when’s was the last time you used a car? In 1910, cars were being used for races. These races have started increasing racer’s money, and racing businesses. We have races today, and many cars have logos of brand food, or a big, and well known company.
In 1919, the first single foot break stops all four wheels. Before, cars had to use a hand, and foot break to stop the car. When the single foot break was made, it created easier stopping, and made the car much easier to use.
A year after that, the first luxury cars were made. These cars were for pleasure, and comfort for the user, and made using a car way better. These cars had better spacing and the design of the car was better. Cars were becoming something no one has ever seen before.

Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson Now for my special interest project, I am doing basketball. I understand that he is a baseball player but he played basketball. Jackie Robinson is a great man, and changed not only sports but did other things to benefit America. He was born in Cairo, Georgia. Growing up, he was the only black kid on his block. But he kept strong. When he started playing baseball, he had played for a negro team. But he was so good at it. He played sports in many categories. He played in athletic sports like basketball, baseball, track, and played in the summer Olympics. There he won medals, and didn’t lose a lot. Even though he was a professional baseball player, he still participated in basketball a lot. After high school, attended Pasadena Junior college and there, he played on a national baseball team. After he graduated from that school, he transferred to UCLA where he continued his baseball career. Now, he moved to a lot of school’s but it benefited him. After he attended college, he was asked to play major league baseball. He started out playing minor league and progressed throughout his baseball career. He broke so many records, attended many things. He also went in the military, but for a little bit of time but after he went to the Negro league. Jackie soon found that he was going to make a big change. When he first started playing, he didn’t adjust with the team. The tam, and environment was unorganized, but soon found himself playing major league baseball. Also, he played basketball. He played basketball for UNLV in college, and played professionally. He played Seattle, the Detroit Pistons, and the Chicago bulls. He averaged about 4 points each game, and won an NBA championship. But he didn’t just accomplish sports, but he integrated the different sports. He brought many races to sports because he was so good. Not only did he do this, but with the help with his coaches, he got so much support. And the president for the dodgers wanted him to play for the major league, and he did. He also put other black players on the team. This changed sports forever. Although he was discriminated against, he continued his streak, and became one of the best baseball players ever.

Weekly Article: MacBook Air
For this week’s article, I did the MacBook Air. This laptop is very special, and has changed how laptops were made. This laptop has so many new features that I want to cover, so I am going to get into it right now.
Design: This new MacBook is great in design. First, this laptop only weighs 2.9 lbs and is only .68 inches off the ground, when you close it on the back. On the front, it covers .11 inches. And is so light but packs so much in it. The laptop is regular color, has great design, and is so light. The tightly integrated chips and components were designed to work hard, and is so small, and fits in the MacBook Air. This new design allows the laptop to fit more into it. Like CPU’s, and bigger batteries. That is why it last up to seven hours without charging it. Also, the laptop uses flash memory. This flash memory has it’s advantages. First, it saves space, and still stores a lot memory. They got rid of the hard drive, and like I said before, it lets up to 90 percent more space, and lets them put a bigger battery.
Features: This laptop is great, and provides users with many new features that fit into this device, and still, other laptop companies can’t top it. First, like I said before, it has flash memory, and this memory is more efficient because it lets data run easier, and it can go to standby mode for 30 days. That is incredible, and another thing that the Mac provides is the new multi-touch trackpad. Ii is a regular pad, but it does have a divider, and is buttonless. It allows you to zoom, grab, and rotate things. This pad is also useful because it is easier to use, then a regular cp pad. This Mac also comes with an integrated chip for graphics. It is a 320m graphics processor with 48 processing cores. This boast up this laptop’s graphics by 2x. That is something really new, and helps make game experiences on the Mac easier, and better for you. Examples of this would be call of duty 4, and other 3D games. Another thing that this Mac has is it’s Intel core 2 duo chip. This chip lets you have a good processor in your Mac that lets you runs programs smoothly and makes it efficient. And the battery of it is 5 to 7 hours. But the hard ware and the outer part of the Mac isn’t the only thing that makes it good.
